VEHICLE DAMAGE & ACCIDENT POLICY
Safety Guidelines & Procedures | New Zealand
1. IMMEDIATE ACTIONS
If an accident occurs: Stop immediately in a safe location, turn on hazard lights, check for injuries, and call 111 if required. Notify Guided NZ Rentals ASAP. Do NOT admit fault or liability to any third party.
2. INFORMATION COLLECTION
Collect: Name, phone, and address of other drivers; Vehicle registration numbers; Insurance details; Witness contact info. Photos must be taken of all vehicles, damage, and the surrounding area.
3. POLICE NOTIFICATION
Contact Police if: Anyone is injured, another driver leaves the scene, or the vehicle is stolen/vandalised. A police report number must be provided to Guided NZ Rentals where applicable.
4. WARNING LIGHTS & FAULTS
If any dashboard warning light appears or mechanical issue is suspected: Stop driving as soon as safely possible and contact Guided NZ Rentals immediately. Damage caused by continuing to drive with warning lights or faults may not be covered by insurance.
5. INSURANCE & EXCESS
Rentals include insurance with an excess. Excess may be charged regardless of fault. Insurance is VOID if: unauthorised driver, drugs/alcohol, reckless driving, or incorrect fuel usage.
6. WINDSCREEN & TYRES
Damage to windscreens, tyres, wheels, or undercarriage is the renter’s responsibility. Use extra caution on gravel roads or construction zones where damage is more likely to occur.
7. RECOVERY & TOWING
If recovery or towing is needed due to accident, driver error, or prohibited use, all recovery and storage costs will be charged directly to the renter.
8. POST-RENTAL DISCOVERY
Vehicles are inspected after return. If unreported damage is discovered, the renter may be charged for repairs. Pre and post-rental photos are used as primary evidence.
9. AGREEMENT
By renting or operating a Guided NZ vehicle, the renter confirms they understand and agree to follow this Vehicle Damage & Accident Policy.
